Mark Halliday
Mark got his break into the Theatrical industry somewhat accidentally when he accompanied a friend to an open audition at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. This resulted in a part in his first show; Me and My Girl at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln, and also an agent! During this contract Mark was offered his first UK tour, with Alvin Stardust in the musical Rock Hard, and he subsequently performed in other UK tours, including such musicals as Aspects Of Love by Andrew Lloyd Webber and the West End smash hit Spend Spend Spend. Mark's work in this area also took him to the United States and the Caribbean, where he created the role of Morty the Magician in Disney's new comedy musical Morty the Magnificent. The highlight of this show was learning to perform magic, such as sawing a woman in half and performing Houdini's famous escape; hanging upside down, handcuffed, in a tank of water, disappearing, and then reappearing at the back of the auditorium! He also played Hades, Lord of the Underworld in the Disney stage musical version of their hit animation Hercules. Mark's love affair with swing music began in 2004 when he started work on The Rat Pack, Live from Las Vegas. Playing Dean Martin; this tour took him to some amazing concert halls in cities such as Vienna, Zurich, Berlin and Singapore, amongst many others. Since completing his time with the show he has followed his love of the genre by working with big bands including Ted Higgins' Opus One. Mark has been seen regularly performing with SMA's The Rat Pack's Back show and he can also be booked directly as a Dean Martin tribute show or as a swing cabaret show either with backing tracks or a live band. Please contact Mark for more details on this. Mark took a short break from the big band scene to perform in Qdos' pantomime Beauty and The Beast, playing the title role of Beast at the Civic Theatre, Darlington for the 2005-06 season. Subsequently, he has returned to The Rat Pack, Live from Las Vegas European Tour, with which he will perform until the end of August '06. biog |
