Well, I've found my boxes of 'stuff' from when I was researching Hylton - what treasures! Some of it MUST be scanned and put on here in due course. The programme from the 'The Stars Shine For Jack' concert. A 1926 Royal Albert Hall programme, letters from the Labour Party from the 1960's, dozens of pictures from the Scala Concerts in Berlin, copies of Hylton articles from newspapers worldwide, scans of references in books long forgotten, letters to me from Hylton experts alive and no longer with us, even the unfinished autobiography of Beverley McKay! There's passports, marriage certificates, a last will and testament... An amazing legacy, which is now going to be stored somewhere much safer! In the meantime, click here for a new hi-res picture of the Queens Dance Orchestra.

Another couple of (not so new) CD's added to the 'BuyMusic' page.

Hello dear readers. What a long time since my last update! Apologies, and again apologies to those I've either not had a chance to respond to, or have left it far too long. I really am very busy with a number of projects, and being self employed means I don't get too much of a chance to get to here too often. However, over 22,000 of you have looked, and for that I'm very grateful. I'm also grateful for those who get in touch and offer advice on new CD's, pictures and information which may be wrong somewhere on the site.

1. Click HERE for an interesting picture which has come to light courtesy of Bob Henderson.

2. Chas Ambler sent me this interesting email regarding Hylton's early days:

"Hi. As to whether Jack Hylton worked for my great-grandfather, Edwin Adeler at Rhyl, it is certainly a family story that he did - as a pianist - and that Edwin always said that he wasn't worth the £2 a week he paid him. It sounds like a lot to me, but then Edwin doesn't seem to have had an awful lot of sense about money. He was paying Bransby Williams £100 a week around the turn of the century, so what's £2."

3. Today I've also added both parts of HMV C-1846, "Medley Of Chappell Ballads" to the download section. I hope you enjoy them.

4. Chris Woodward got in touch to let me know that there's an interesting book about the London Palladium which some of you may be interested in. You can find out more by CLICKING HERE.

5. I've added a couple of new CD's to the 'BuyMusic' page, which may be of interest to you.

There we go. Let it be said I haven't lost interest in the site, even though I'm not updating it much. I hope you keep enjoying it and especially keep enjoying the music. Happy listening!

I've been sent an interesting magazine scan by Jack Hylton Jnr. Click here to link to it.

13th December 2008

Click here to view a photo sent to me recently. Would anyone like to date and place it? Emails to the usual place and a credit will of course be given.

We've also had some interesting news on a very old picture of Hylton working as a child. Visit the photos page, then "Hylton solo" to see the email I was sent. Very interesting!

Well, the new WMV video files work great on my MacBookPro, so I hope you have as much fun watching them as I did. Let me know! The MP3's seem to have transferred well too, so that's great news. Do let me know if there's any dead links. I'll integrate all the new MP3s into the main alphabetic listings in due course, but thought I'd separate them for those who know the site well. I hope you enjoy the new material.

Hello everyone. I failed to noitice that we passed 10,000 hits sometime recently - thanks to everyone for their support, and the usual apologies for the lack of email response. My workload is vast at the moment, and I simply don't have time to get round to everything. Over the next few days, the entire RealAudio collection is going to be replaced by MP3's - finally bringing us into the 21st century! Special thanks to Dennis Pereyra for his exhaustive work in preparing the files. Please be aware of a couple of things - the site will be a little iffy for a few days whilst we iron out all the logistical issues of updating hundreds of files and hundreds of links - bear with me! I won't answer any problem emails till I'm sure it's right, but in the meantime, please email me any dead links - there may be lots!

On a brighter note, there will be lots of new files on their way including a number of new video files (in WMV format), which we're trialing - we'll see how you react and perhaps add some more. In the meantime, please be patient with the site, it will be tricky for a few days, but should be for the better for everyone who's ever toiled with the Real Player! Happy listening!
